About Aranya

We offer classes in Belly Dance—including its various styles, Raqs Sharqi and Fusion—and Yoga, along with workshops, events, and performances.

Aranya is an inclusive space where everyone is encouraged to explore movement and dance. A place to bring people together to share their art and create a flourishing and supportive belly dance and movement community in Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge and beyond!

Our Vision

Aranya Belly Dancing's vision is to create a space for creativity, learning, and self-exploration through dance and movement. The use of the Sanskrit word "Aranya," meaning "bountiful forest," represents growth, abundance, and generosity which is infused in our studio. Come check it out!

Our Mission

To provide high-quality and culturally informed belly dance instruction through group classes, private lessons and workshops for students of all levels. If you are looking to explore the Belly Dance as an art form and embrace your true self, while having fun doing it, then our classes are for you!

Our Values

We value artistic expression and cultural awareness with a boutique feel that is both evocative and elegant. Our brand synthesizes three main themes: the peacock, ogee shape, and Egyptian lotus. The peacock symbolizes elegance, dance, and self-love, while the ogee shape is common in Turkish and Moroccan architecture. The flower motif is derived from ancient Egyptian artwork, connecting to the cultural roots of belly dance.

  1. Artistic Expression: we embrace our true selves, both our bodies and personal identities.

  2. Cultural Awareness: we root ourselves in the history of the art form and respect its cultural origins while keeping our minds open and flexible to new frontiers.

  3. Evocative Elegance: we strive for an authentic expression that is both emotionally powerful and aesthetically refined.

Overall, at Aranya Belly Dance & Movement we are focused on fostering a supportive and creative community for belly dance enthusiasts to explore the art form and embrace their bodies and identities.

The use of cultural and artistic motifs suggests a connection to the history and cultural roots of belly dance, while the studio's name and vision represent growth, abundance, and generosity.
