Private Lessons

Private lessons are a great way to get individual attention and personalized feedback. The lessons are tailored to your needs- whether it is a single class or a series of classes, we’ll make customized lesson plans for you depending on what you’d like to work on. You can book these classes for individuals or a group.

Private lessons can be conducted online, at our home studio in KW, or at a place of your choice. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your needs, please reach out to us at info@aranyabellydance.com

What do private lessons help with?

  • Individualized attention to work on your techniques and strengthen your skills.

  • We can help with creating and teaching you or your group a custom choreography to perform on a special occasion. We’ll also help you with costumes and props recommendations and sourcing.

  • Deep dive into the history and cultural context of belly dance.

  • A good dancer always has a trained ear when it comes to identifying and interpreting music. Musicality lessons would include learning about the structure of middle eastern music, rhythms, melodies and identifying the instruments. With that, we’ll develop improvisation skills.

  • A dancer is an entertainer and having good performance skills is crucial to learn and practice. Learn to captivate the audience, rock that stage and find your authentic style as a dancer.

  • Specialty topics like props, folklore, fusion elements, costuming, make-up, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a typical belly dance class look like?

We start the class with a 5-10 min warm-up so your muscles are primed ready to dance. The next 45-50 mins would be focused on dance (techniques and drills) and the last 5-10 mins would be a cool-down stretch.

  • I have no dance experience. Can I still join?

Absolutely! You are welcome to join with zero dance experience. Don’t worry, we’ll go through every technique and step in detail and keep drilling (repeating) it till it starts to feel natural.

  • What should I wear in the class?

Please wear comfortable clothing that will give you freedom of movement. Typically, yoga pants and leggings are the preferred choices.  Please carry a hip scarf or a normal scarf you can use to tie around your waist. Hip scarves are also available to purchase online in the Bazaar or in person before the class.

  • Do you provide performance opportunities?

Yes! You will have the opportunity to perform in our own showcase and other shows. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details on that.
